Position Summary:

We are looking for a Global Brand Marketing Senior Director to lead and coordinate our corporate B2B marketing efforts across the GS1 federation. In this role, you’ll drive the deployment of our refreshed brand across countries and sectors, making sure it comes to life consistently and effectively.

You will lead the creation and rollout of global brand campaigns and make sure they are well-executed and deliver measurable results. You will also support and engage with our local GS1 Member Organisations around the world to help build marketing capabilities, share best practices, and make sure our global and local efforts are aligned.

This role also covers broader corporate marketing topics, such as sustainability, public policy, innovation, and communicating our offer to customers and partners. You’ll make sure our messages are relevant, consistent, and support our long-term goals.

You will work closely with multifunctional teams across GS1, globally and locally. You will need to connect the dots across functions, stay focused on delivery, and make sure our marketing helps drive real impact.

We’re looking for someone who combines strong brand thinking with practical delivery experience, who can lead across complex environments, and who is excited to help build a unified and future-ready brand. The person will need to master digital marketing practices and be knowledgeable about the latest (AI) developments to be able to lead by example.

Responsibilities:

  • Deploy the new global brand positioning across GS1 and ensure consistency and relevance across all touchpoints. This includes the development and launch of global brand campaigns, starting with the 2D barcode initiative (QR Codes powered by GS1 and GS1 DataMatrix), ensuring high-quality execution and clear performance tracking.
  • Support and engage GS1 Member Organisations to build local marketing capabilities, align on strategy, and roll out common assets.
  • Lead corporate marketing efforts around transversal topics such as sustainability, public policy, innovation, and offer communications.
  • Develop and instil across the organisation a strong culture and understanding of customer needs first, with insights derived from input from Member Organisations, case studies, events, etc.

Day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinate the development and execution of global campaigns and toolkits with internal teams and external agencies. While this role currently has no direct reports, team management responsibilities are expected in the near future.
  • Engage regularly with regional/local marketing teams to guide implementation, gather feedback, and support capability building.
  • Develop and oversee content and messaging for transversal topics (e.g. sustainability, public policy, innovation).
  • Offer the necessary customer insights and recommend the appropriate market research.
  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of the full mix of digital marketing and act as a subject matter expert reference point for the latest developments.
  • Collaborate with teams in public policy, customer engagement, and sector leads to ensure marketing reflects business priorities.
  • Monitor and report on the performance of brand initiatives, and adjust tactics as needed.
  • Keep materials and messaging aligned and updated across global channels and internal platforms.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree with at least 15+ years of related experience.
  • Proven experience in both strategic and operational marketing.
  • An extensive background in B2B environments is strongly preferred, ideally within the digital or technology sector.
  • Candidates with Retail or FMCG experience will also be considered.
  • We’re looking for a digitally savvy candidate with a solid understanding of AI and its business applications.
  • International experience is required.

Skills required:

  • Strong leadership capabilities, with a proven track record of setting clear strategic direction, inspiring teams, and successfully driving complex, cross-functional initiatives in matrixed environments.
  • Must be fluent in English, oral and written. Fluency in other languages is helpful.
  • Strong organisational, analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Effective relationship builder – one-to-one, one-to-many, internally and externally, with small and large organisations.
  • Ability to create strong and trusted relationships with a globally distributed team in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Demonstrates passion, energy, and drive in their work.
  • Operates in a manner that demonstrates honesty; keeps promises and honours commitments; behaves in a consistent manner.
