Global Product Classification Standard

The following schedule reflects upcoming GS1 GDM releases and will be updated as more information is available for each release. The schedule includes expected release dates and Cut-off dates for future releases. To allow for integration with GDSN, the following schedule is proposed. The GS1 GDM (Global Data Model) and GMD (Global Master Data) community will continue to work together to develop upcoming releases.
As content for each GDM release is finalized, it will be posted on the corresponding GS1 GDM Standards Page. At that time, the header of the GDM release below becomes a hyperlink you can click on to access the content.

 
Maintenance Release 2.17 (May 2026)

Updates to GDM and GDM Local Layers, ADB/GDSN Reference Material 

  • 27 March 2026 Cut-off date for eballoted and approved GDM Local Layers and GDM work requests.
  • 29 May 2026 Publication of final GS1 documentation for this release (align with ADB 2.12 and GDSN 3.1.36).
Maintenance Release 2.18 (August 2026)

Updates to GDM and GDM Local Layers, ADB/GDSN reference material, and GDM Category Mapping against GPC November 2025

  • 25 June 2026 Cut-off date for eballoted and approved GDM Local Layers and GDM work requests.
  • 25 August 2026 Publication of final GS1 documentation for this release (align with ADB 2.13 and GDSN 3.1.37).Maintenance Release 2.17 (May 2026)
Maintenance Release 2.19 (November 2026)

Updates to GDM and GDM Local Layers, ADB/GDSN reference material.

  • 17 September 2026 Cut-off date for eballoted and approved GDM Local Layers and GDM work requests.
  • 17 November 2026 Publication of final GS1 documentation for this release (align with ADB 2.14 and GDSN 3.1.38).
Maintenance Release 2.20 (December 2026)

Updates to GDM and GDM Local Layers, ADB/GDSN reference material.

  • 01 October 2026 Cut-off date for eballoted and approved GDM Local Layers and GDM work requests.
  • 01 December 2026 Publication of final GS1 documentation for this release (align with ADB 2.15 and GDSN 3.1.39).
Maintenance Release 2.21 (May 2027)

Updates to GDM and GDM Local Layers, ADB/GDSN reference material.

  • 18 March 2026 Cut-off date for eballoted and approved GDM Local Layers and GDM work requests.
  • 18 May 2026 Publication of final GS1 documentation for this release (align with ADB 2.16 and GDSN 3.1.40).
