Digital revolution in packaging - Mondelēz Italia pilots the QR Code powered by GS1 on its products

Mondelēz Italia is piloting the QR Code powered by GS1 on selected products to prepare for the adoption of next generation barcodes.

Applied to Oro Saiwa packaging, the GS1 Digital Link–enabled QR code connects product identity with batch and expiry information while remaining fully scannable at point of sale. At the same time, it creates a new digital touchpoint for consumers, providing access to product, sustainability and disposal information. The pilot allows Mondelēz Italia to assess operational impacts, consumer experience and retailer readiness, helping define best practices for wider adoption across the group.
